President, Largest Shareholder Investment Advisor Representative

John says he is, and always will be, just a farm kid from Illinois that likes to keep things simple. In his first year out of high school he worked as a pipe fitter at the local Nuclear Power Plant to save for college. After graduating from the University of Illinois and University of Copenhagen, he started in the financial world as an auditor/advisor for Edward D. Jones, a firm known for bringing Wall Street to Main Street. He later worked for A.G. Edwards. By the time he was 30, John was managing over 3000 accounts. He decided to follow his dream of becoming an airline pilot and left the financial world to pursue this goal. In 1992 he was fortunate to have been hired by Continental Express and in 1997 transitioned to Continental, which is now United Airlines.

In 2000, John looked ahead and noticed that his life as an airline pilot had changed. He was worried about the companies’ debt obligation for promised pension payments owed to him at age 60, which was over $1,200,000. As a new father and a growing family he needed a source of income in addition to his career as a pilot. From 2001 to 2009 John worked as an Investment Advisor Representative for Raymond James. He then transitioned to the Charles Schwab Institutional platform, with Purshe Kapling Sterling Investments as broker-dealer and Registered Investment Advisor to create a streamlined, one stop back office access to the pilot retirement plans.

While some pilots enjoy golf or boating, John enjoys the financial world and helping people achieve their individual goals. John also loves to fly with his two boys who are currently working towards a career in Aviation. He is currently on LTD with United Airlines, but hopes to get back to flying the Boeing 777.

John holds the Series 66, Series 7 and is a Licensed Life, Health and Variable Annuities Insurance Representative.

Fred joined The O’Hagan Group in January of 2013. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Western Illinois University and has been in the financial services business since 1985. Fred started with the Equitable before becoming an independent financial advisor with Mutual Service Corporation. When Mutual Service Corporation was bought out by the huge Linsco Private Ledger, the thought of being a number; and not a name didn’t fit his personality or clientele.

Fred currently holds a Series 7 and Series 65 licenses as well as being a licensed Life, Health and Annuity agent. He currently resides in Morris, IL with his wife. Fred enjoys hunting, fishing, flying his airplanes, and attending baseball games in the summers. Fred is currently a private pilot whose father was an airline pilot with Delta Airlines for 34 years, so he is aware of the unique issues that face airline pilots and families.

Dell joined The O’Hagan Group as an advisor after years of being a client himself. His extensive aviation and insurance experience brings great value to our firm by providing unique industry insight for our new and existing clients.
